I usually just send to everyone - then the names of ones who don't collect go away for a week or more. I think it is too much trouble to keep track of those who send gold and since it doesn't cost me anything (beyond the click) it doesn't matter to me. Sure, someone could be taking advantage of me but whatever. Also I continue to get letters and eggs from their slots so I may as well keep them as friends.
